ANY air will stop them dead as there is only the one element doing the pumping, unlike inline pumps where you can usually get away with bleeding fuel up to the pump and then go for a start.īleed the fuel up to the pump, then loosen ALL the injector pipes at the injector end and turn the engine until you get fuel spitting out at the injector union. The biggest single thing stopping them working, is air in the system. There are two main variants, hydraulic governor and mechanical governor.Īs there is only one pumping element, they are fairly simple, but the governor linkages can be a nightmare internally if they get rusted through water in the fuel. The DPA's are bad enough to do in a pump workshop, and not the thing to play with if you haven't got the special tools etc. First off, don't try and pull it to bits. ![]()
